Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]". Hebrews 12:2a (AMPC)

Sometimes we may start things that we can’t finish—it might feel as if it is too much for us, too complicated or difficult, especially if no one has ever shown us the way. We can be unsure of how to move forward or what next steps to take. However, Jesus never doubts the plans He has for us or how to get us there. He has all the vision, time, and patience in the world to ensure we find our way to the Father’s heart and into the centre of His perfect will.

You can enjoy your journey of faith, for He is the One Who began this good work in you. He created it and will sustain it—even if you feel you are faltering or failing—He is not! He has you, and He has your journey of faith too.

You cannot lose your faith or give it away in a way that diminishes your own. It cannot be stolen from you, for the Lord Himself presides over it—strengthening it and bringing it to full maturity day by day.

Other voices may try to lead you off track or pull you this way or that—doubt, unbelief, or fear can be part of that noise, and they are loud. Yet if you tune your ears to love instead, you will hear His gentle encouragement and abiding care. “I have you in My heart”, He says. “Trust. Rest. Lean on Me and believe in Me”.

Oh, dear heart, let Him do the work. Then stand back and see just how beautiful and how perfect it will all be!

Prayer: 

Jesus, I thank You that You have a plan for my life—one that You hold close to Your heart—even when I cannot see it.

You are the light on my path, my teacher and friend, the One Who leads me into all truth—the truth of Who You are and the truth of who I am to You.

Come, Lord Jesus, and let me walk in the wonderful light of Your love. You are my Leader, Lord—the planner of all good things, the best there could ever be!

My eyes and my heart today, Lord, are fixed on You. Show me the next steps to take, my Good Shepherd, so that I may stay on the path You have prepared for me and faithfully follow You all my days.

In Your precious Name, I pray. Amen.
