But you, O God, are both tender and kind, not easily angered, immense in love, and you never, never quit. So look me in the eye and show kindness, give your servant the strength to go on, save your dear, dear child! Make a show of how much you love me so the bullies who hate me will stand there slack jawed, as you, God, gently and powerfully put me back on my feet”. Psalm 86:16-17 (MSG) Here is a promise, beauty, to hang on to—something to write upon your heart for the days when the going gets rough, or when you just can’t seem to get going! God, Who is both tender and kind, never quits!
His love for you is immense, His passion towards you sure. His kind intention is to work everything out for your good, to save you from all that is not of Him, and place you in the midst of His promises. Rest, dear heart, in this truth. Release it all to Him—the hard and broken bits—the pieces large and small—then stand back and watch in wonder, for all that He will so powerfully, and so lovingly do! Prayer: Your Word, oh Lord, says one thing—and so often my thoughts and emotions say something else—at times just the opposite of what You promise to be true. You say to fear not, and yet, somehow, I still do. And some days I wear myself out with the very worry You say not to give place to. I thank You, Lord, that I can be honest with You, with thoughts and feelings—and right or wrong, hearing them never unsettles or bothers You! You always show up and You never give up! Make a show of how much You love me, Lord, just as Your Word says You will do. For the bullies who hate me, Jesus, and for the strength and encouragement I need today too. In the strength of Your Holy Name, I pray.
