“Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child].” Psalm 27:10 (AMPC)
So many people are blessed with the gift of loving parents—they were wanted, celebrated, and rejoiced over as a child.  Praise God if that is so, for that is the way He desired it to be!

However, even our most caring parents, may have areas that they forsook us in, knowingly or unknowingly, intentionally, or not, that perhaps has left a gap in our sense of belonging and acceptance—even in our acceptance of ourselves.

The good news (which always begins with God) is that God is the Mother and Father of all creation.  He has set His affections upon us specifically; celebrated and rejoiced in us; and called us His very own! We are His family, His children, created by His own hands, and made in His image to look like Him, so we would always know where we came from and where we belong! And though the world may reject us, or we may reject ourselves, the Lord God of all Creation, never will!

You can push aside anything that has tried to push you aside, and refuse anything that has tried to diminish you, for you are “accepted in the beloved” which means you are chosen of God, special, and set apart.

Highly favoured one, before anyone had ever put you down, God had already picked you up.  You are in His arms of love now, safe and secure, and He will never let you go!

Prayer:

Dearest Father,

What wonderful, good news this is—that even when I have rejected myself, or felt rejected by others, I was already picked up and held by You.

Into all the darkness in my life, the loneliness and the loss, You come.  As Saviour, Redeemer, and Friend, You flood all these places with Your glorious light!

Help me to see where you are at work today, in all the life-giving ways that only You can do.  Help me to see, to know, and to understand, and experience Your heart of nurture and Your tender care.

Pick me up today, Lord, and hold me close.  This is where I am safe. Born in Your heart; a part of Your family.

Thank You Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that it could be so. You are the Light of my life.  You are my all in all.
