This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us]”. Hebrews 6:18 (AMPC) Deception is costly to everyone—in those times where we have been lied to, lied to others, or lied to ourselves, the pain runs deep. Damage is done in relationships when bridges of trust are destroyed—bridges that take time to re-build if it is possible at all. Person to person there may be a tendency to hide part of ourselves, step back, observe, and see when and how it is safe to connect.
However, in your relationship with the living God, the very opposite is true. You can run to Him at all times, and not away! Hold fast to His nature and character, and never let go. He knows everything about you—even things you don’t know about yourself—and in all of that, His love remains steadfast, pure, and true! There is no shadow of turning in Him and no need to hide any part of you. You can be completely honest in every situation, completely connected in truth at all times, for He will always be honest, integral, and completely truthful with you! It may be hard to trust God, especially when others have proven that offering trust is not the wisest thing to do, or when the sting of betrayal remains. He knows that too, and He understands. He does not expect more from you at any time, than you can do. You can have hope though, dear heart, in Who He is, and the future He has planned for you. He has gone ahead, ordering your steps, designing and desiring each one to bring healing, hope, and an abundance of joy to you. Run to Him as often as needed—daily, hourly, moment by moment—He is always there. He is your strength when you are weak; your hope when all else fails; your shining light in the midst of darkness. He will never let you go or ever let you down. He says He loves you, and it is true. He says He will care for you, care about you, contend for and provide for you, and what He has spoken is His solemn oath—unshakeable, unbreakable, and true! Hold fast to His promises, beloved, for He is famous for His faithfulness! Every word He speaks He will fulfill—in the most life-giving, exquisite, and extravagant, ways—for deeply loved and immensely cherished, you! Prayer: I do grasp this truth today Lord. I hang on to these words and I hang on to You. I am so grateful Jesus, and so glad, that every word You speak is true. Would you speak Your words afresh into my life, even now, so that I could see You as You are and not through the lens of my past disappointments or pain. That I could see who I am, in the light of Your love, and I could be strengthened in Your steadfast mercy and unending grace. My heart is in Your hands, dearest Jesus. I am so very grateful that it is.
