In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit”! Romans 5:5 (MSG)

In life, we can be accustomed to things being taken away from us, feeling like we are left holding the short end of the stick so to speak, or coming up on the raw end of the deal. In defence of that, we may be compelled to hold on tight to the little we have, afraid that even that has the potential to be lost. 

However, here is a promise from your generous and extravagant God, Who loves you so, and Who encourages you to experience the opposite of holding life closed—but rather to stand in the midst of life, arms and heart wide open with expectancy and anticipation! Wide open to the blessings of God, to the good things He has planned; wide open to surprises of joy and moments of sheer delight. 

Won’t you try it, lovely and loved one, even now if you can. Step outside of the mess and the mistakes; the not enough of some things; and way too much of others; and open your heart to the love of God as never before. Offer your life as a container, held up to the Lord, empty and waiting to be filled, and allow the precious Holy Spirit to pour in the bounteous provision found in His goodness and grace. 

Then watch, cherished one, and see what He will do in unending provision, and extravagant abundance for you! 

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I thank You that You represent the fullness of the Godhead.  You are the One Who walks with me and alongside me—my Helper, Advocate, Counsellor, and Friend.

What a privilege it is to take my life—this container though dented and worn—and hand it to You. Because of Jesus, because of His great sacrifice on the Cross, the endless love of God now fills my life, and heart. I can be blameless in His eyes and made new.

Ransomed, healed, restored forgiven, Jesus. My life, now joined with You. 

Dearest Father, Glorious Saviour, Precious Holy Spirit, with all my heart, and with a grateful heart, I give all praise and thanksgiving to You!
