So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper]”; Colossians 3:12 (AMPC)
There are many injustices in the world, some come to us; some sadly, by us, though that may not be our hearts intent. Whenever they occur, and however they come, they can be hurtful and hard to endure. Yet God, Who loves us so, and has set us apart for His own chosen people; has modeled a way to navigate through.
Instead of putting on bitterness as a shield, and retaliation as our sword, God Himself, Who is clothed with patience, kindness, gentleness, and compassion—encourages us to clothe ourselves in the same attributes as He wears and to respond just as He would do! These are the chosen garments made for a cherished child of the King, like you.
Put them on first for yourself, when you do those things you wish you had not done; said what you wish you had not said. Remember you are learning and growing all the time so be patient, forgiving, and kind with learning and growing you!
And then for others who have hurt or wounded so deeply, we say, “Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.” After all, that is the gift Jesus has given you!
Treasured one, you are deeply loved by God Himself. Whatever someone else, even you, has made wrong, don’t you think He will make it right? Hand the injustice over to Him, allowing Him to take all that was wrong, and bring forth the very best of what is right.
Stay hidden in His righteousness, surrounded by His love, and wear the attire of a sanctified one, abiding in all that is good and true! Oh my, beloved, it all looks so very beautiful on absolutely beautiful you!
Gracious Father, what joy to know that I can learn and grow, be transformed by Your love, and think and act as You would have me do.
Where I have taken on robes or roles that others have assigned for me, that were different than what you wanted or desired, I ask Your forgiveness. Today I put off all that is false and take on all that is true, so I can walk in Your ways, and be more like You!
Thank You Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that You never leave me wandering or wondering, but You have set me apart with purpose, according to Your divine love and pleasure. You have set me apart to walk in Your ways, to reflect Your love, to bring joy and glory to You!
Let it be so Lord, in every area of my life, let it be so, in Your Name.
