God, the one and only— I’ll wait as long as he says. Everything I hope for comes from him, so why not? He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, an impregnable castle: I’m set for life”. Psalm 62:5-6 (MSG)

Have you ever hung on to and hoped for something for so long? Something that, despite your best efforts, did not come true? So you stopped hoping so that it would stop hurting? At least if you are not expecting anything good to come, you can’t be disappointed. 

To hope is to risk; it takes both vulnerability and courage. And yet God, the one and only, completely capable and trustworthy God, carries your heart in His, knowing full well all that you long for, dream of, and hope for. Yes, cautiously at times, and perhaps courageously at others. He knows!

Placing your trust in Him and the plans He has for you is like putting gold bars in a bank vault. These precious things—hope and dreams for you and for others—all dear to your heart, are safe with Him. Because you are dear to Him, and your hopes and dreams are too.  You can rest now, and breathe. Let your soul expand with endless possibilities—and wait! 

Good things are on the way to you, precious one. You are set now, for life, because hope in His unfailing promises, cannot disappear, or ever disappoint!

Prayer:

Dearest Father and Lord, it’s true. Sometimes it’s hard to hope because of the pain of disappointments gone by. I wait at times, and wonder—will it ever work out? Could these dreams possibly come true?

And yet You have promised, in the faithful and true way that only You can—that if I abide in You, resting in Your goodness where real hope comes alive—You will turn my disappointments into Your divine appointments! You will cover my sorrows, and even my deepest shame, in love’s redeeming grace. 

Because You ask me too, Lord, I place my trust in You, knowing that You dream good things for me, and You are the One Who makes those very dreams come true.

Eternal Father, Glorious King, with a grateful heart, I honour, worship, and I wait, for  You.
