Like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child within me [ceased from fretting]”. Psalm 131:2b (AMPC)

God longs for each person He created to feel valued, loved, and adored—to receive the strength and support that comes through a Father’s love, and the tender nurture and constant care of a Mother’s heart. In reality, though, few of us have known that kind of love from our parents, because fathers and mothers are often very broken themselves. With no malicious intent, in most cases, they pass that brokenness on to us.
 
You may have felt, or are feeling now, a void of love and nurture—an emptiness deep inside. You may be bearing the pain of all that was done, or not done, as it should have been. Please know that it is never too late to have your own heart healed and to have God’s love, as both Mother and Father, revealed.

No matter how the years have unfolded, whether in perfection or in pain, His love for you is constant—deep, abiding, tender, and true. His love is nurturing, protecting, reviving, and completely focused on you. 

He is Father to the fatherless, bringing healing and hope. He is Mother to those whose hearts are hurting, bringing comfort and kind-hearted care. Beloved one, you are His child, the object of His love and affection. Remember, He is attentive to your heart’s cry and to every area of need. Nothing is too great or too small. His devoted love carries you close, cares for you, and covers all.

Prayer: 

Jesus, You know that there has been a whole lot of fretting in my life—more than I care to admit—and in the midst of trials and troubles, that fretting can be with me still.

But You are showing and sharing with me a better way—a more life-giving and healing way—the way of trusting in and relying on You.

Would You help me today, Holy Spirit, to rest my own heart, and all that is within me, against the strong and loving comfort of the Father’s heart, and the tender and nurturing care He so longs to give? 

Cover me, Abba, in Your healing love. Take the pain and the burdens away, and in Your loving-kindness, bring Your glorious, and perfectly planned future to bear.
