“Unto You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my Defense, my Fortress, and High Tower, the God Who shows me mercy and steadfast love.” Psalm 59:17 (AMPC Bible)
Love can seem rather fickle at times, so much more dependent on what we do, or how we do it, than on who we really are. It may be that we haven’t even had a chance to discover the truth of who we actually are, because we have been too busy trying to figure out what we need to do, and how to do it, to win the love and approval we so desperately desire from others.
But what about God, dear heart, when everyone else walks away? What about God even if they all stay? He is your Strength, your Defense, Your High Tower, and more. He is the One Who loves you in all you do, no matter what you do, even if there is nothing you do! Why? Because He made you, and that was enough for Him. Fashioned with infinite care, He created you from the substance of His own heart, with a love that never ends, never wavers, never runs out, or runs away. He loves you because you are you!
Oh, treasured child, run into His arms of love, where you are accepted, protected, and belong. Silence the voice of fear and doubt—don’t let someone else define who you are to God for He alone knows the truth of your life’s purpose and your own heart. Dwell in His dependable love, divinely loved one. That is how He planned it from the beginning of time—how it will always be.
Dearest Lord, You alone are the One Who can love me—all of me—the blessed and the broken—loving me to wholeness. Loving me back to life.
Come Lord today I pray, see the broken places, the weariness and the wounds. In all the ways I have tried and failed Lord, come.
Worn out and weary in all the wilderness places Lord, let me recover my life—the truth of my own heart and the wonder of who You made me to be—rediscovered and recovered, in You!
Oh Lord, joy of my heart, let my life, well lived, be the joy of Your heart too!
