Relax, everything’s going to be all right; rest, everything’s coming together; open your hearts, love is on the way”! Jude 1:2 (MSG)

We may have waited—some of us for much of our lives—for love to come. And when it did come, it may not have felt safe. Pain, disappointment, or broken trust can teach a heart to withdraw, to build walls, to close doors tightly. It can feel wiser that way—less vulnerable, less exposed. Not fully alive perhaps, but at least protected from further hurt.

And so the heart learns survival: keep love at a distance.

But then Jesus comes—not with pressure, not with force, not with demands—but with a voice that is steady, gentle, and unshaken by your fear. And He speaks into those guarded places:

“Trust Me. Rest. You are safe with Me. My love is not here to harm you—it is here to heal you.”

He does not rush you. He does not condemn the walls you built. He understands why they are there. And still, He invites you—not into risk without safety—but into love that is finally safe enough to receive.

“Let Me in,” He whispers, “because I will not use your heart against you. I will care for it.”

And this is where His love is different from what you may have known before. It does not drain you. It does not abandon you. It does not manipulate or withdraw. It strengthens what is fragile. It restores what has been worn down. It brings life where you learned to expect pain.

This is a love that is steady, faithful, and present. A love that is not based on who you had to become to survive, but on who you are as God’s beloved creation—seen, known, and held.

And so He invites you again, not with pressure, but with patience:

“Open your heart, even just a little. Let Me show you what love looks like when it is safe.”

Because in Him, love is not something to fear—it is something to come home to.

And your heart, even with its history, is not too guarded, too wounded, or too late to be healed.

It is still held by Him.

Prayer:

Jesus, I come before You with honesty about my heart—how it has learned to protect itself, how it has closed off in places where love once hurt or disappointed me.

I ask Your forgiveness for the ways I have shut You out, not because I did not want You, but because I was afraid of being hurt again.

Today, Lord, I open my heart to You again. Gently, carefully, and with Your help. I invite You into every place that has learned to hide, withdraw, or fear love.

Heal what has been wounded. Restore what has been shut down. Teach me that Your love is safe, steady, and true.

Help me to trust You with my heart—fully, slowly, and deeply—knowing that You will never harm me, only heal me.

Jesus, You are my all in all. I place my heart in Your hands.
