“Like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child within me [ceased from fretting]”. Psalm 131:2b (AMPC)
God longs for each person He created to feel valued, loved, and adored—to receive the strength and support that comes from a father’s love, along with the tender nurture, and constant care, of a mother’s heart. In reality though, few of us have known that kind of love from our parents, because fathers and mothers are very often broken themselves and unable to give us what we need. With no malicious intent in most cases, they may have passed their own brokenness onto us.

You may have felt, or are feeling now, a void of love and nurture, an emptiness deep inside. Maybe you are bearing the pain of all that was done, or not done, as it should have been, while you were growing up. Please know that it is never too late to have your own heart healed, and to have God’s love, as both mother and father, revealed.

No matter how the years have unfolded, whether in perfection or in pain, His love for you is constant—deep and abiding, tender, and true. His love is nurturing, protecting, reviving, and completely focused on you.

He is Father to the fatherless, bringing healing and hope. He is Mother to those whose hearts are hurting, bringing the tenderest of comfort, and kind-hearted care. Cherished one, you are His child—the object of his love and affection. He is attentive always, to your heart’s cry, and to your deepest need.

Whatever it is today, large or small, His arms are open and waiting. No need to worry or to fear. He has you, precious one, wrapped up close in His abiding presence, surrounded always by His redeeming, unending, heart-healing, love.

Prayer:

Abba Father, I come to You today, in all the places of lack and longing, and I invite You in. For all the things that were added to my life by others that should have never been there, I ask You to remove them, even now.

For all the things that were lacking, that should have been there in the areas of love and nurture, acceptance and belonging, I ask You to fill them up now.

I want to walk in the fullness of all that You have for me, Poppa. Free from the worry, the weight, the fear, and the shame. I want to be free in Your life—completely, wholly, who You made me to be!

I look to You, Jesus, and I wait, content and trusting, for all that You will do!
