[The Lord] raises the poor out of the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap and the dung hill. That He may seat them with princes, even with the princes of His people”.

With no one in life to tell us the truth of who we really are, certain lies may weave their way in, taking up permanent residence if they remain unchallenged. Left out, left behind, left broken, they tell us we were meant for the ash heap. And that the dung, or garbage hill, is where we belong. Yet your Beloved Jesus comes, shining like the noonday sun, wrapping you in the truth of His love and sending the darkness fleeing away. 

The One who sees you as you really are—sees you in beauty and in grace, no matter how you see yourself, or how others have sought to define you. He sees that you were meant for so much more than to be on the bottom of anyone’s pile of opinions, because you are at the top of His list of love—a place He has secured for you for all eternity. 

He lifts you above the pain of the past into the glorious future He has planned for and promised. Take His hand, precious one, and allow Him to set you in the midst of the abundant life that He has desired for you from the beginning of time. 

“Look up, beloved”, He says. “Shake off the dust; the limits of others, and the lies you have believed, and sit instead with Me. Come up higher, dearly loved one, where you belong. The best is truly yet to be”.

Prayer: 

I choose this truth today, Jesus, and I need this today. To take You at Your Word.

Renew my mind, I pray, in how I see myself, my circumstances, and how I see others. Allow me to come up higher, above the pressure and the pain, to see as You see, and to know beyond a shadow of a doubt, Your great love and care for me.

I rest in Your nature and character. You are good, loving, and kind. You are tender-hearted, giving, and forgiving. I am yours, precious Lord, and You are mine!

Yahweh, You are my radiant hope! My hero and my help!  I tuck myself up in Your love today, and I rejoice!
