And God said, This is the token of the covenant (solemn pledge) which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations:  I set My bow [rainbow] in the cloud, and it shall be a token or sign of a covenant or solemn pledge between Me and the earth. And it shall be that when I bring clouds over the earth and the bow [rainbow] is seen in the clouds”. Genesis 9:12-14 (AMPC)
Included in this scripture is God’s unbreakable promise, not only for you and for your household, but for the generations to come.  He saw the end of time before the beginning and His intention is firmly set to be faithful to all mankind, for all of time. Everything we need for life and godliness, all contained in His promise and plans.

Brokenness may come into one generation and stays for many. An alcoholic Father brings his hurt home, and the whole family is devastated. They in turn look for a way to stop the pain they did not ask for, and seek a way of escape, often ending up stuck in the exact same way. It may look different, but it hurts just the same. Sickness or disease can run like a curse from one generation to the next; until one person steps forward to change the family system.

And it only takes one person, with a courageous heart like yours, who will believe; who will stand up and say, “No more”. You can do this, beloved, in great confidence and steadfast faith, because of Who’s you are; and because the One Who is devoted to you, is good, faithful, and true.

In all those broken places, you can be made whole—spirit, soul, and body—this is His desire for you. Chains are gone and heaven-sent freedom comes. Not just for you, but for your generations, too. His promise is strong and sure, His solemn pledge everlasting, unshakable, and true. He made it in love, dear heart. He made it just for you.

Prayer:

Jesus, I come to You today, on behalf of myself and my generations,  and ask forgiveness for all the ways and times we have walked away from Your perfect will and Your ways, and in doing so, have sinned against You.

Would you come even now, in Your mercy and grace, and restore, remake, and renew? Not only for myself, in my own life and all the broken places, but for my generations, and those who are to come. Let them know the joy of walking with You, seeing Your faithfulness, and staying faithful to You.

Make a new way, Jesus, for us to follow. Your way, all the way, all the days through. Lead us and guide us, Precious Lord, forgive us and restore us. We are looking to, seeking, asking, and counting on You.

In Your powerful and Holy Name, I pray.
