She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus [the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, which means Savior], for He will save His people from their sins [that is, prevent them from failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God]”.

Here is a promise steadfast and true—Jesus, your Lord and Saviour, has come to rescue you! In all His power and glory, He will save you from the things that you are aware of now—the pain of the past, disappointments large and small, heartaches and heartbreaks, for He knows them all. And He will save you from any fear of the future, too—fear of what may be waiting or worry over what may never come.

You have this assurance, dear heart, that Jesus Himself, will keep you in His care, preventing you from missing out on the abundance of life and the endless supply of love that God has for you.

This Christmas Eve, as we ponder the wonder of His great love for us, take time, if you can, to receive Him anew, in all the ways and places that matter most to you. Remember to trust in what has already been done for you, and the fullness of all that is available for you today. Jesus, the Light of the World, has made it so for all mankind, and He has made it so, purposefully and intentionally, for you!

Prayer: 

Jesus, You are the Light of the World, the Hope of all Mankind. You are the Light in my life, and my hope is placed confidently in You. I celebrate You today, and give thanks for all You are, for all You have done, and for all that is yet to come.

Glorious Lord, shine the light of Your redeeming truth afresh in my heart today, and save me from all that is not of You. You came, in the greatest act of love, to save the whole world from sin and shame. I give thanks and rejoice in Your goodness, for You came to save me, too!

Jesus, Prince of Peace, Mighty King, I worship You.
